Introduce your toddler to semi-solid foods with dalia. The grains of broken wheat are highly absorbent and quickly plump up when water is added, while holding all the flavours of the vegetables sauteed in white butter.

Dalia with Carrots and Peas

  • 1 teaspoon homemade white butter
  • 1 tablespoon boiled and grated carrot
  • 1 teaspoon shelled green peas, boiled and mashed
  • 3 tablespoons broken wheat (dalia), soaked in 1 cup of water until soft then drained
  • 1/8 teaspoon cumin powder

    Warm white butter in a non-stick pan, add carrot and green peas then sauté for 2-3 minutes.

    Add dalia and sauté, stirring continuously for about 6-7 minutes or until brown. Add one cup of water and mix well.

    Add cumin powder and mix. Cover and cook till the broken wheat is soft to touch.

    Serve at room temperature.
