Rice vermicelli is a great introduction to carbohydrates. You can cut up the vermicelli to make it more appetizing for your toddler!

Rice Vermicelli Upma

Ingredients

  • ½ cup rice vermicelli
  • ½ teaspoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon skinless split black gram
  • 1 curry leaf, chopped
  • ½ medium tomato blended or pulp without seeds
  • 1 cup of hot water

Method

    Dry roast the rice vermicelli in a non-stick pan till brown. Transfer to a bowl and set aside.

    Head the oil in the same pan. Add the black gram and curry leaves.

    Add in the tomato and sauté for half a minute. Then cook the mixture for another 2-3 minutes.

    Add roasted vermicelli and mix well. Add one cup of hot water.

    Mix well, cover and cook until the vermicelli is turns soft.

    Remove curry leaves.

  • 7

    Serve at room temperature.
